Cowpen Creek Chapel sits on land that has been part of our family for generations. What began as a simple barn on a working cattle farm in Bruce, Mississippi—used for grain storage, housing pigs, and everyday farm life—eventually became something more.
In 2015, our founder, Sarah Adair, began restoring the old barn. While working the land, she saw potential tucked inside its weathered boards—a warm, welcoming space where people could gather and celebrate. What started as a labor of love for her wedding soon grew into something larger. Friends and neighbors began asking if they could use the space, and Cowpen Creek Chapel was born.
Over the years, Sarah thoughtfully added a kitchen, bridal suite, groom’s room, and outdoor ceremony spaces—pouring countless hours into creating a venue that felt intentional, comfortable, and full of heart.
In May 2021, Sarah passed away unexpectedly. In the midst of grief, one thing was clear: the chapel she built would remain open. Her mom, Tamsie Bagwell, and sister, Emily Pace, stepped in to continue honoring Sarah's life and vision—keeping the space welcoming, grounded, and family-run.
Today, Cowpen Creek Chapel remains a working farm and a place for meaningful gatherings. Every ceremony held here is a reminder of why Sarah built it in the first place—to give couples a down-to-earth, beautiful space to say “I do.”
